Infiniti Wins First Ever LA Auto Show Design Challenge

December 11th, 2014 by

This year the Los Angeles Auto Show hosted a Design Challenge and challenged auto makers with a theme. This year’s theme was “Sensing the Future: How Will Cars Interact With Us In 2029?” Who won this challenge? None other than Infiniti. Keep reading for more information about the challenge and how Infiniti won.

Infiniti answered the Design Challenge theme with a vehicle called SYNAPTIQ, created virtually via a 3D hologram and wearable technologies. This car was designed to create a connection between car and man. Then Infiniti created a triathlon race called A.R.C. to show judges and general attendees why this was the vehicle of the future. The three races presented different environments: air, rally and circuit. Votes were submitted online via the LA Auto Show Design Challenge’s Facebook page and Infiniti emerged as the winner. This is the first time the LA Auto Show has hosted this competition, so Infiniti is honored to win.

“Our designers loved participating in the LA Auto Show Design Challenge, conceptualizing how Infiniti drivers could interact with their vehicle in the coming decades,” said John Sahs, interior design manager at Infiniti, and leader of the SYNAPTIQ team. “It’s extremely gratifying for the public to also dream a bit with us and identify with such ideas that may seem a bit futuristic, but may just not be that far away from reality.”
