Make sure your car is summer-ready!

Just as you would prep your car for the winter months you need to be sure to prep your car for the warmer summer months. Here are a few things to check before your next long weekend roadtrip.

First check your tires. As the temperatures rise so will the pressure in your tires. Take a few minutes to check out the look, feel and pressure in your tires. Check your cars manual to see what the correct pressure amount is for your tires. Also, if you see dry rot, large bumps, or uneven wear drive to your local car shop to have that checked out.

Then be sure to check your battery. Running the air-conditioning, rolling down the windows and blasting your new favorite song all at the same time put strain on your battery. The average battery lasts 2-3 years so it may be time for a test and replacement. Don’t get stranded on the side of the road.

You should also check your air-conditioning system. We all know that we don’t use our air-conditioning all year round so make sure it’s in tip top shape before you start using it. Over time the air conditioning can leak refrigerant causing the compressor to operate for longer periods than usual and therefore overwork the engine.
