Where The Engine for the Infiniti Q50 Is Made

It was recently announced that Infiniti plans on opening a new facility in Tennessee. This facility will begin production of the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engines for the Infiniti Q50 sports sedan. The facility is projected to open on June 26^th of this year. There will be an opening ceremony with local, state and national dignitaries in attendance.

So what does this mean for Infiniti and the Tennessee community? Well, it will produce an estimated 400 new jobs, which is great for any community. Right now that number is at about 200, with more on the way soon. Infiniti will invest $319 million dollars into this facility and be able to receive 250,000 engines annually.

The facility is state-of-the-art and covers 310,000 square feet. Construction from the ground up began in the beginning of May 2012 so Infiniti is excited to have the opening day quickly approaching. There are quite a few energy efficient features of the building which include a heat-reflecting white roof and natural daytime lighting through the skylight grid ceiling.

Infiniti Motor Company President, Lohan de Nysschen said “The opening of this new powertrain facility is an important step for Infiniti. It is the first step of our manufacturing expansion that will include the start of vehicle production in China later this year and in Europe next year.”
