Infiniti Fights Cancer!
Infiniti has a long-standing history with Coaches vs. Cancer, American Cancer Society, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the NCAA and CBS/Turner. This year marks the sixth year of these partnerships and Infiniti is coordinating quite a few efforts to support Coaches vs. Cancer. Want to know more? Keep reading for more information.
On April 1, two teams met on the court. But it isn’t the teams you are thinking of, it was two teams made up of cancer survivors. They are called the “Hardwood Heroes” and they are led by four coaches. Team Penders is led by Coach Tom Penders, former University of Houston head coach, and assistant coach Doug Gottlieb, former point guard at Oklahoma State. Team Harrick head coach Jim Harrick and assistant coach TJ Ford is an eight-year NBA veteran.
Teams were formed in February. There were 14 cancer survivors invited to tryout over a three-day period. This is all in an effort to raise awareness in the fight to end cancer.
“We are so inspired by the stories of each of these individuals and honored to be involved with Coaches vs. Cancer to help give the survivors a chance to fulfill a dream they each have,” said Allyson Witherspoon, director of marketing communications and media for Infiniti.
Infiniti is the presenting sponsor or the Tip-Off Tailgate and has also pledged to make donations totaling $700,000 through the Round by Round brackets. Attendees at the Tip-Off Tailgate got to check out Infiniti vehicles like the Infiniti Q60, Infiniti QX30, 2016 Infiniti QX50, Infiniti QX60, and Infiniti QX80.
