INFINITI On Track for Record 2016 Sales

The company notched a five percent worldwide increase over last year’s sales in November, numbers that came from new INFINITI cars that weren’t in the mix this time last year. Roland Krueger, President of INFINITI Motor Company Ltd., told Reuters in a recent interview, “We don’t give forecasts, but you can do the math and figure out we have a record year in the making.” He credits strong sales by the 2017 INFINITI QX30 crossover and the 2017 INFINITI Q60 sedan for raising both the company’s profile and its sales numbers.

If you look deeper, there are reasons for the company to be encouraged. For one thing, the increase isn’t just being driven by one market segment, or in one country; it’s across the board, with each major market that the automaker operates showing gains. For another, vehicles that were only available in some markets this year will be available globally next year. That leaves room for further growth in 2017.

The unknown quantity here is car sales, which are mostly declining globally. However, the INFINITI brand is diverse, and its robust SUV portfolio positions it better than its luxury competitors whose crossover offerings make up a smaller portion of vehicles, or those who are only recently diversifying into crossovers.
